The Students at Dance City study Both the ADAPT and CDTA syllabi

ADAPT Syllabus - Tap & Jazz

ADAPT is an acronym which stands for “Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teacher’s”.  ADAPT is a certified dance syllabus which offers yearly examinations in the dance disciplines of Tap and Jazz.

The Syllabus system is taught by over one hundred Canadian dance studios from coast to coast.  ADAPT represents an elite group of dance teachers who follow the ADAPT Syllabus and enter their students in the yearly examination process.

ADAPT dance teachers are leaders in quality dance training.  They teach the love of dance and movement not only to the elite student, but to the recreational dancer as well.

The ADAPT syllabus in Tap and Jazz combined with the CDTA syllabus to produce an even higher standard of dance within the studio.

Most of the work is in an open setting atmosphere with very little set combinations.  The ADAPT Syllabus is designed to train the dancer to think quickly and perform with style.

The aim of the syllabus is to produce trained dancers with the ability to obtain work as professionals.

Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association - Tap & Jazz

The Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association (C.D.T.A.) was founded in 1949 and has branches in the Atlantic Provinces, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.

The C.D.T.A. Syllabus was developed to ensure that students are taught by a qualified instructor in accordance with nationally recognized standards and a proven program of instruction.

The syllabus provides teachers with both a guide of instruction and a measure of the student’s progress.

The Stage Division is comprised of two dance disciplines, Tap and Jazz

Jazz thrives in our society today.  The C.D.T.A. syllabus is an intense program of technique for teachers to work with for the overall development of their student’s.  The examinations are well rounded and extremely beneficial for students.

The C.D.T.A. counting technique in Tap is beneficial to the overall development of the teacher and student.  The use of rhythms, choice of music and the knowledge of history is taught and examined by the C.D.T.A. syllabus.
